We have done major restoration to the marine lake in summer 2015, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, North Somerset Council, Clevedon Town Council and many individuals and clubs.

The work has rolled back 80 years of pounding by the sea and give our lake a new lease of life. Our main public events on the lake are currently the Schools Day and Marine Lake Festival in September (now part of the Clevedon Tides Festival) and the illuminated night sail of model boats in December.

However we look forward to putting on extra events in our refurbished lake. We also have an ever-growing Marlens Music scene which stages the Winterfest at the end of January, plus other social / fundraising events through the year and runs two music stages at the Festival. Canoeing and sailing are taught at the Marine Lake all the year round for schools and clubs, using our community fleet of sailing dinghies, kayaks and canoes.

The Marine Lake hosts regular activities by Clevedon Model Boat Club, Clevedon Canoe Club, Clevedon's sea swimmers and Clevedon Sailing Club, as well as visits by triathletes, Princes Trust Bristol, British Divers Marine Life Rescue and other groups. It is also open to members of the public who want to swim.

We work closely with North Somerset Council (the lake owners), Clevedon Civic Society, and the clubs which use the lake.  MARLENS will continue to lobby for our Marine Lake but will in future take responsibility for running the lake as well. We intend to make sure that the needs and ideas of all Marine Lake users and the whole community are taken into account.

MARLENS will need funds to run the lake for the community, so if you agree with MARLENS aims, please join our "Marlens Lottery" or make a donation

The Marine Lake is only one part of Clevedon's delightful sea front which also boasts excellent pubs, cafes, the Grade 1 Clevedon Pier and wonderful views and walks. Just behind the seafront you will find other shopping and foodie delights in Copse Road, Alexandra Road and Hill Road.

A little further and you will find the Curzon Community Cinema and Queen Square with its shops and market. Make a day of it and stay for a meal in one of our excellent restaurants.
